About Us

New Canaan Rugby Football Club was established in 2024 with the goal of promoting the sport of Rugby to New Canaan.

Rugby is a fast-growing sport in Connecticut, and Fairfield County specifically, with established youth programs in Greenwich, Fairfield, Stamford, Westport and Aspetuck, as well as other nearby towns such as Bridgeport, Cheshire, Clinton, Rye and Pelham. There are approximately 1.2 million rugby players in the United States, and 5 million globally in 120 countries. 

We successfully launched our inaugural U10 season in the Fall of 2024, giving a group of young boys their first chance playing in a formal rugby game.

Over time, we plan to grow other age groups and will look to add U12 and U14 team within the next few years.

New Canaan Rugby Football Club is incorporated in the state of Connecticut and is a 501(c)(3).

Coaches

Our initial coaching team, including several members of the organizing committee, will consist of volunteer parents from New Canaan who have played at the school and/or university level in the US, England, Ireland and Australia.

Spring 2026 Season Registration

Get ready to kick off the Spring season! Registration for our 2026 Spring season is now open, and we invite your child to join us on a journey filled with growth, friendship, and the thrill of rugby. Please register using the links on this website.

New Canaan Rugby Club will offer two youth teams (U-8 and U-10) for the 2026 Spring Season, and may add an additional youth U-12 tackle team. 

• U-8 Flag Rugby (Ages 6-8): A fun and easy introduction focusing on fun, teamwork, and the foundational skills of rugby.
• U-10 Flag Rugby (Ages 8-10): A fun and easy introduction focusing on fun, teamwork, and the foundational skills of rugby.
• U-12 Youth Tackle Rugby (Ages 10-12): Building on the fundamentals, this program emphasizes safe and skillful play.

**Note: Players aged 10-14 are welcome to join us for the 2026 Spring Season, though there may be some limitations on playing other teams.
